Fay joined the Pipes and Drums of Christchurch City in 2022 when it travelled to Scotland for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Fay is a very experienced drummer. She played bass and tenor for the City of Invercargill Caledonian Pipe Band for over 30 years. In that capacity, she has competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland, as well as national championships in Australia and New Zealand.

Fay has also performed in military tattoos in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Scotland. She and her husband, Royden, both joined the Pipes and Drums of Christchurch City in 2022.
