Kelly resides in Christchurch NZ, and joined the Pipes and Drums of Christchurch City in 2022 when it took part in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Kelly started playing the tenor drum in her early teens, mainly because her brother played the side drum and enjoyed going to the competitions. Kelly played in the Blenheim and Districts Pipe Band until moving to Christchurch where she joined the McAlpines North Canterbury Pipe Band and played with them for 3 years. After 11 years in the North Island, Kelly moved back to Christchurch in 2015 and rejoined McAlpines Pipe Band. In 2019 Kelly joined the newly-formed Scottish Society of NZ Pipe Band Grade 4 and in 2022 became the Drum Corporal.
